3-Day Childcare Guarantee
From January 2026, all families eligible for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) will receive at least 72 hours of subsidised childcare per fortnight for each eligible child, the equivalent of three full days of care per week. This replaces the current CCS activity test that previously limited subsidised hours based on work, study, or volunteer hours.
At Babyccino Childcare in Brighton Le Sands, we’re here to help you understand how this support applies to your family and how to make the most of it.
Who is eligible?
The Child Care Three Day Guarantee applies to families who:
Are eligible for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS);
Need access to care but don’t meet the old activity test; and
Have applied for and received CCS through Services Australia.
Families do not need to meet the previous activity requirements for at least three days’ worth of subsidised care each week.
Standard Families
Eligible families receive at least 72 hours of subsidised childcare per fortnight, around three days per week.
First Nations Children
Families caring for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children are eligible for 100 hours per fortnight for each child, regardless of activity levels.
More Hours Still Possible…
It’s still possible to access more than 72 hours per fortnight if you meet traditional CCS participation requirements or have exemptions.
Access consistent early learning support even if you’re not currently working or studying.
Get time to secure a longer-term place without losing subsidised care.
Plan your child’s early learning without the pressure of meeting outdated activity requirements.
